We finished! Team Happy Feet was the first female team to cross the line for the 100K and we managed it in under 20 hours (19.59 to be precise :o))
We came 5th overall, but the best thing really is being the FIRST FEMALE TEAM to cross the line!! Are we happy - YES WE ARE.
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to all of our sponsors and to everyone who was cheering for us the whole way.
We celebrated our success with a glass of champagne after we finished and a few hours later after a bit of sleep, we had the breakfast of champions :o)
Two weeks out from Wild Endurance and 3 pairs of Happy Feet found the "Stairways to Heaven"..! A fun day out for a final run of 20kms including 2 x Golden Stairs, Furber and Giant Stairway (!) - a picnic compared to our other training days.! Lots of time to admire the views and plenty of photo opportunities. Compulsory cafe stop at the end..........
It was only a silly suggestion - I didn't really think anyone would do it..........
...... but after 72kms on the weekend the cobwebs are well and truely gone..! A couple of blisters, sore knees and hips, but overall the team is feeling good...........
Hey girls, why don't we do the fully monty next weekend....?!
Thank you to all our sponsors..
A fun and day out on the track. Plenty of stops and time to admire the views. We haven't decided what's worse, the continuous 8km of up or the 100's of stairs that have been squeezed into the last 17km.!! = the Wild Endurance team have a weird sense of humour! By about 35kms we finally worked out a 'plod' rate that will get us through the 100km.........
Finally out on the track for a bit of a jog.... First time Cheetah and Helen of Troy have run together. A short 33km burst with some challenging hills, but very happy with the pace. A chance for H o Troy to test out her night vision - pretty sure the tripping was from too much looking up at the amazing night sky! Another big outing planned next weekend when the whole team will take to the track.....!
Try saying that after a couple of glasses of champers........
Three pairs of Happy Feet took on the Six Foot Track Marathon on Saturday. 45kms of off track torture with a few water crossings thrown in, elevations to die for , cramps that grabbed so hard we thought they were going to kill us, and a cut off time of 7 hours!! Pleased to report that we all made it through.......
Our other pair of Happy Feet decided to go one better and put in two days of training - slow down Cheetah we are trying to catch up with you.....!!!
Can't wait to get four pairs of Happy Feet on the Wild Endurance track next weekend......
Thanks again for sponsoring us...............
Sat 13th Feb - I think Pretty Helen may have lost her way as she kept going up and down the same steep hill - it's a circuit darling; take us next time.....!!!
Sat 13th/Sun 14th Feb - Helen of Troy and Cheetah were checking out Sections 1 & 2 of the track. Hope we don't need to sleep between the 2 sections on the day!! We should be immune to the leech bites by race day.
WE'D BE ON TOP OF THE SPONSORSHIP LEADER BOARD IF WE WERE SPONSORED FOR EVERY LEECH WE'VE HAD TO REMOVE......!
We are taking part in the 2010 WildEndurance event and will be completing a 100km trek through the Blue Mountains to raise funds for the The Wilderness Society.
