With the Sydney Festival and Mardi Gras seasons officially over, I can put my dancing shoes back in the proverbial closet, take the running shoes out, and the hardcore training begins!
I have been doing lite n easy since the beginning of January (New Years resolution mixed with fear of my body being too frumpy to cope with the 100kms!), and so far I have lost almost 10kgs! Hard work at the gym has hepled me achieve this. Ive recently started smashing myself in spin class (6 times last week!), and it is helping me both strip the weight off and build up my fitness. The thought of 59 days to go is a very scary thought. I have absolutely no trekking experience at all. In fact, up until recently, I had no level of fitness at all! I hear your toe nails turn black (and fall off!) after this walk. At least I will save on pedicure costs!
We have a big training session this Sunday. Bundeena to Otford. 27.5 kms! BRING IT ON!
In this blog I have included a picture of my cat. Not that she is relevant to anything involved with Wild Endurance, but you have to admit, the girl is cute.
Happy walking, and please donate in any way you can to this wonderful charity.
I am taking part in the 2012 WildEndurance event and will be completing a 100km trek through the Blue Mountains to raise funds for The Wilderness Society.
The Wilderness Society (TWS) is a national, community-based, environmental advocacy organisation whose purpose is to protect, promote and restore wilderness and natural processes across Australia for the survival and ongoing evolution of life on Earth.
I have absolutely no trekking experience at all, but I am throwing everything I have at this challenge.
Over the next few months I will be training my butt off to ensure I have what it takes to finish the 100kms.
Please DONATE by clicking on the button to the right and help The Wilderness Society continue their work to protect the wilderness for all of us and future generations
