Hard to believe that what began back in the early stages of 2012 is about to come to reality in just 2 sleeps time.
This week has been somewhat of a rest week and we are pretty pumped to finally be taking on the 50kms on Saturday. Weather forecast is pretty chilly but clear and mostly sunny. Lets just hope it stays that way.
We have been training rpetty well over the past 3-4 months. Lets just hope its enough to get through Saturday relatively unscathed. Looking forward to the beauty that the Blue Mountains has to offer.
Huge thanks to all our supporters. We couldn't have made this journey without you and I hope we can make you all proud on the weekend.

Well what a magical walk that was on Sunday and what a superb day Newcastle put on for us to train in. We walked the last 3 legs of the Great North Walk which is Teralba train station to Queens Wharf brewery.
27kms in total according to the pedometre and with only about 10 minutes in total break we reached the Brewery in 5 hours and 15 minutes. Such magnificent views along our beaches and right into Newcastle. Found so many new trails and tracks we never even knew existed. Saw a couple of red bellied black snakes along the way. Give me those over the leeches from last weekend any day.
Have recovered remarkably well, hardly any leg soreness at all the next day. I was most surprised. This weekend will be an even bigger test. With the 4 day weekend at hand there are some big walks on the agenda and will definitely be clocking up some km's.
So pumped for the event now, feeling fit and ready to take on the Challenge. Should be awesome. Just hope the Blue Mountains puts on a great weekend weather wise so we can enjoy all the beauty that it has to offer. At least the scenery might take our minds off the pain.
Well until our next update......
Gav and I had an awesome hike over the weekend. 27 kms return trip from Basin Campsite to Watagan Valley. A pretty tough walk but such an accomplishment to get it done......8.5 hours in toll over the 2 days......
Planning another this weekend. The last 3 legs of the Great North Walk......Teralba Train Station to Queens Wharf Brewery. About 26.5 kms.......can't wait......so looking forward to it.
Firstly a huge thanx to all who have nearly helped me reach my amended fundraising target. Keep thos sponsorships coming in, its definitely for a great cause.
Training is ramping up. Been doing stacks of walking and jogging, and tackling some mean hills and terrain on the weekends to get ready for what the Blue Mountains will have in store for us in a little over 10 weeks. Gav has managed to find a couple more hills to add to my "favourite hills" list but its all good preparation for the big race.
Thanks to everyone again for your encouragement and support.
Wow, firstly a huge thanks to all those who have jumped on board so quickly to sponsor us on this epic challenge. Well it's epic to me anyway. I am nearly at my initial target of $400 which is awesome, now I am hoping to double that.
The official training program started yesterday and my legs are saying a massive thankyou this morning thats for sure. It will get easier I'm sure as the distances increase over the next 12 weeks and fitness levels increase in preparation for the big 50kms in May 2012. Its definitely the biggest challenge I have set myself and am commited to work hard and have a fantastic race. I promise I will do you all proud.
Until the next update, take care and keep sponsoring xx
