I have missed out on the last training session with the team which was the beautfiul coastal walk from bundeena to Otford. I have been advised to rest my knee for the next couple of weeks as I have tendonitus from the bike fall i had in October. The MRI shows swelling and walking through heaps of mud and up and down stairs/hills in the national park will probably not be the best plan!
However i am still walking 6km a day and feeling good so will have to build it up in April in the run up to the big day.
hoping to raise some money but raffling off the kindle fire that Luke got from the USA, lets raise some cash for a great cause!
Last weekend Luke and I set off to do the Manly to Spit, ok its only 10km but its a start and its all up and down hill and it was mid 20 degrees when we set off!
We hit the halfway mark and weather obsessed Shona checked the radar as I do about 10 times a day!! Anyway lo and behold there was a MASSIVE storm coming in. Purple on the radar for those who follow weatherzone. So we picked up the pace and it started to rain when we were about 2.5 km from Manly. We were not too bothered for the first 20 mins or so, actually it was a nice relief from the heat but as we turned the corner at Manly acquarium the heavens literally opened!!!!! it was torrential for about half an hour but we ran and made it to the Beer cafe just in time before it went insane. So we made it from Spit to Manly in just under 2 hours....surely a new record! Well it was for us anyway :-) and we only had 1 beer (well we are in training after all) Our next challenge is to do Manly to Spit and back again (target 4 hours!)
This weekend we are going to harbour party so we wont be doing much walking but we are hoping that 6 hours of dancing might make up for the equivalent of about 25km walk??? what do you reckon?
