Hello there, thought I would give an update to the training I have been doing!
In preparation for the Wild Endurange challenge I have been getting fit/fitter in a few different ways.
A weekly hour long brutal session with a personal trainer who is a marathon runner/trail blazer obliterator! So he knows exactly what is needed in the months leading up to an event such as this.
I have also been riding to Tafe 2-3 times a week which is a 32km round trip, and work once a week (approximately 12km round trip).
I am now on holidays and have recently said goodbye to my car (locking it up at my parents house), forcing me to ride everyday to my work experience as a bakery student (12km round trip 5 days a week, and to work on the weekends (approximately 35km round trip), so that's about 95kms of riding exercise a week! Not bad!
To balance out this exercise, I am also doing a yoga class once a week to ensure my body is calm and relaxed after a hardcore week of work!
Our team'The Darling Bungles' have also been doing some training together. Last sunday (Easter sunday) we spent a good few hours up at Woody's Challenge Hill Adventure Park, running around and climbing various challenge walls and obstacles!
Following this adventure we embarked on a 27km hike in our local area (here is a map for those who are interested (http://g.co/maps/72re), departing at 8pm and arriving home at approximately 2:30am! This was definitely a very good test of our night vision! We saw some beautiful wildlife along the way, including two owls, at least 3 kangaroos, an eagle with a baby in a next, and the easter bunny even came past and left us some eggs to find! (see a photo in my gallery!) I was a luxury of having Easter monday off the very next day so we could relax and rub tiger balm into our sore muscles!
We are planning some more team hikes very soon, increasing the distance a little bit too!
Thanks for reading, I shall update again soon!
Also there is a raffle on the horizon, look out for details! Lets just say, baked goods will be involved :)
